From the article:
" While Starrett supported the change — requested by the neighbors of a controversial marijuana processing plant on Jaquith Road — Commissioners Casey Kulla and Lindsay Berschauer said they had reservations, and would not support it. Kulla is a farmer, as is Berschauer’s husband."
***Starrett and Kulla originally 'Voted in Favor' to permit the Marijuana Processing Operation without the slightest regard to Chehalem Mountain's residents safety (from being blown to bits, slowly burning to death, homes destroyed, water-wells running dry, and et cetera).
The disingenuous, political-flip-flopper Starrett-who is running for 'Re-election' tries to give the appearance she is trying really hard to save the residents of Chehalem Mountain from the obvious dangers of the Marijuana Processing Operation (which will also use 7,000,000 gallons the ground water per year).
The Marijuana Processing Operation should be classified as a potentially 'Dangerous Chemical Refinery' and if an explosion does take place, there is 'no' water supply to put out the fires. Fire Department Trucks and Water Tankers cannot navigate the winding, narrow roads. Will Starrett's 'Brown-nosing' get some 'votes' from Chehalem Mountain 'voters'?
Now to Kulla and Lady B.
Neither wants to 'vote' for this measure because they both have 'vested financial interests' in not having Fire Department inspections for their individual farm and nut processing operations. I agree with some of their sentiments...However, the Marijuana Processing Operation/Chemical Refinery is a wholly different business.
***My dear friend Laura Cochran died of worrying and working herself into an early grave warning Commissioners about the dangers of aforementioned. Her disabled son's bedroom is but (37) feet from the Yamhill County-permitted Chemical Refinery.
