Phillips knows nothing about child care, has no plan, has no idea how to set it up or what the rules are, has never been involved in child care in any way, so let’s give him $2 million to see what happens, instead of working with a group that seems to know what they’re doing. That sounds exactly like the decision our commissioners will make. It’s the decision that’s the worst possible one for the county, so that’s where they will head.

The McMinnville High School has a very successful Bear Hugs program. It would be great for Newberg High School to have something similar. Everyone benefits.

Why would anyone volunteer for a committee at the county level when these commissioners continually ignore recommendations from the people who invest their time into researching topics and issues?
Don't have any experience with childcare? That's OK, here is $2 million because you are a Republican.
If nothing else give their proposal back to the committee to look at and do a deep dive.
Nope.
"We're fiscal conservative. Here fellow Republicans with no experience, take $2 million."

While a school-based program has merit, this is a political handout between partisan allies. This is not good governance. This is not fiscal responsibility. This is another chapter of disregarding experts to favor friends. ITS GROSS.

The entire half-baked concept is ludicrous. And, unfortunately, typical.
