So we are paying bonuses to the folks who were counseling Mr Cashman before he started shooting up the Mount Mazama neighborhood?

BigfootLives

JWC. This is after healthy wage increases the past two years. ‘Grants’ are not free money, we pay for them, using a maxed out Visa card.

I wonder if Mr Dickson who so recently committed suicide by cop was also a client of Yamhill County's Behavioral Health brainiacs?

Hibb

JWC that is a very insensitive comment and his relationship with ABH is really none of your business.

Hibb:

Do you remember Shane Rader? He is the guy that was released on bail after assaulting his wife in front of their children. He promptly returned to the home to assault the family and shot a young child in the head with a pellet rifle. The pellet penetrated the child's skull and deep enough into the brain to make it impossible to remove it. The projectile will probably kill him eventually. The MacMiniville News Register has not done a follw up.

Assuming that Shane Rader was a Behavioral Health Client or an evaluation by the BH brainiacs influenced Judge Collins to release him, the people of Yamhill County have an absolute right to know this. The same is true for Mr Dickson. Society seems to believe that the NRA, gun manufacturers and gun owners are responsible for violent crime, yet we can not even track which judges have released the criminals that commit murder or which Behavioral Health drone influenced the court? This lack of accountability is an outtage.

So your entire rant is based on zero facts?...you don’t know if or how the men you identified were receiving treatment or if anyone from BH gave testimony to the court. Pretty thin argument from my perspective.

Thank you for making my point for me. The Oregon Courts website enables people to discover which judges have released which criminals to victimize the people. The confidentiality of mental health records enables the staff at Behavior Health to evade accountability.

Of course it will become much, much worse once the no bail trend becomes established. I am amazed that Judge Collins had the audacity and mendacity to write a guest editorial endorsing no bail after his FUBAR with Shane Rader. Judge Collins should have been flogged on the courthouse steps.

Health records are protected by Federal HIPPA law for good reason. I doubt you want the general public going through your medical records. I know I don’t.

In your posts You have accused the mental health staff of malpractice and influencing the court for prisoners release without one shred of evidence. Nothing I have posted proves anything you have stated. In fact , I don’t agree with unfounded accusations that aren’t supported by fact.

JWC—maybe you should read the N-R policy on reader comments. The link is above where comments are initially posted.

I don’t believe JWC has accused anyone of mental health malpractice, on the contrary, there is no information available to base that judgement. Judges make decisions with input given by mental health professionals, who some of which just received substantial annual increases and a hefty bonus. I believe the questions was, What is the track record of these mental health professionals? How are they held accountable when the system hides behind hippa laws.

You may not like the timing, but it’s a valid question.

You claim that the “system hides behind HIPPA law”….you are implying wrong doing without any evidence.
HIPPA law is in place to protect patient privacy. Allowing individuals that are unfamiliar or uneducated in mental health principles ( especially those with an ax to grind) to rummage through patient records for justification of their bias is a terrible idea.
Bottom line is the judge holds the ultimate responsibility for legal decisions….

"After Starrett complained about comments Commissioner Casey Kulla made on Twitter and to the News-Register, Berschauer indicated that she wants to create a policy that limits what commissioners can say publicly."
This sounds mighty un-libertarian of Starrett. I propose a policy that commissioners can be open in their statements about the business of the county, so long as they are truthful. That would be most refreshing.
