Obviously the purchase of Alpine Avenue property with the short fall is not fiscally responsible and moving ahead with any plan there wouldnt be a good idea for the City considering they are cutting jobs and specially at the Police department.

Maybe the URA should 'cut' Palindrome out of the equation, and go with a developer that is willing to pay their own way.

Another tired, pointless boondoggle in the making.

Going with Palindrome is one of the biggest scandals in McMinnville ever. I recently suggested a lawsuit. No purchase price, no interest payments, no property tax. ! How can anybody think this is a good deal including the McMinnville squad? Somebody should also look into Heather Richards, which is probably has been paid off by this company. There’s no reason for the city council to approve this unless somebody’s padding their pockets.

Nice job, Jeff Towery. Hope your resume is updated.

The fact that the majority of city councilors voted to continue negotiating with Palindrome on the proposed Alpine development is scary. It is a pie shaped property where the railroad, Lafayette Avenue, and a two-block single lane “festival” road off 8th already making parking impossible (you have to park two blocks away now if 30-40 people are at a McMarket event. So any serious proposal for commercial development should start with a multi level parking garage with enough spaces to handle the number of residents proposed, the customers of the commercial restaurants/ businesses, and the employees of those businesses - not 450 parking spots less than city building codes require!
And despite what Palindromes experts and our esteemed city panning manager say, it would end up even larger financial disaster for city taxpayers.
With those facts in mind, the only way that majority of councilors could vote to keep negotiating with Palindrome is if they continue to believe our city’s ex mayors “social cause” agenda is more important than the financial interests of the city and its citizens that they were elected to protect. Please keep track of how each councilor votes on this issue.
