Dallas woman arrested in connection with fatal hit-and-run

A Dallas woman was arrested Thursday in connection with the Saturday, Nov. 7, hit-and-run crash that killed a Salem man.

Kari Lin Smith, 47, initially told investigators she hit a deer. She eventually turned herself in to deputies in Amity, telling detectives Will Lavish and Jacob Herr she was “90 percent” certain she had hit someone.
