Or more to the point, Bend is 110 miles NORTHWEST of Christmas Valley, as the reference in the story is Bend's direction FROM Christmas Valley.

Hmmm, guess I read it wrong but it sure sounds backwards to me? I suppose that's why I am not an editor.
