Kind of made me nervous when the word "equity" came up in this article. It's a pretty loaded, political word these days. It's been twisted and used to do some pretty extreme things. Relieved that she doesn't want to use it to divide people up into opposing groups and create anger and division. We have seen enough of that in other parts of the nation. Don't need it here.
It was a relief to hear that her definition of equity is "reaching 'each' student." Can't argue with that!

Oh, and by the way, Rust Rae deserves an award for that top picture (of her kneeling by the student).
The look of genuine kindness and compassion on her face is stunning!
