WOW! Students standing up to politicians. Keep it up!

Students change wrongs; look at the '60s -- the draft, Vietnam, Nixon. Students ended the Vietnam conflict (not a war -- Congress didn't declare war and only Congress can ... oh, wait ... the president now does whatever he wants despite the Constitution). Students ended Tricky Dick Nixon's political career, too.

There's a little bit that needs to be said: the city can't do anything about what's happening with ICE. Governors are impotent to do anything about ICE.

Figure out where to put your energy ... find the sweet spot that will make the difference.

Good luck and keep it up! This is a good start. It's your future you're fighting for.

Dear students,

Here's a link to an article about our "Abolish ICE" movement. It may be a place to start....

It may cost $1 to read -- just a heads up

Fiddler (and other readers),
You don't have to pay to read the Guardian; "continue" (without paying) is an option. Supporting them is a good thing, though, they are a good source of unbiased news.

Great fiddler ! Keep the fire burning, initiate more division. What a stupid idea are you trying to create a bunch more protesters maybe the kids should stay in school and take advantage of the education that we all pay for them to receive. Great example your Vietnam comment. There’s pictures of kids and protesters spitting on the American troops when they came home. Brilliant. Keep up the good work.

Ron, The division that is being encouraged is between those who wish to live in a democracy and those that wish to live in an authoritarian state where laws only exist to bind people that the government disfavors. I personally will only support people who believe in American democracy. And I think these students should do the same.

And the "spitting on Vietnam vets" story is an urban myth. You can find more detailed context here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myth_of_the_spat-on_Vietnam_veteran

Good for you, students! Holding power to account is as American as apple pie. Don't let anyone tell you that you shouldn't express your opinion as a US citizen.
