Admittedly, I have not read every document about this new utility, but I've not seen any reasoning on why this needs to be its own utility. Why isn't this just a department of Public Works? The new tax should be less as there would be less overhead.

Letting the stormwater system to deteriorate seems like a terrible idea. Kicking the can down the road and dealing with things when it becomes an emergency is always the most expensive option. Investing and planning seems like the sensible thing to do in this case. $10.00 a month is not a lot.

I'm guessing those same people wouldn't complain about the higher fees if a company like Amazon owned and managed the stormwater system? I hope they realize there would never even be a public meeting to discuss any changes to the system if a private entity owned it. They would just send you the bill. All complaints would be managed by some AI chat bot too.
