Doty played for Westside Metro, a Beaverton-based team consisting of youth soccer players from the Portland metro area. The team finished with a 20-2 record.

• Hopes to start a water polo team at McMinnville High School have been put on hold for financial reasons.
Interest in putting together a team has had students and teachers talking over the past months and years. But there is not enough money in the district budget to support plans, according to Athletic Director Marianne Mills.
“We would have to rent pool time at the aquatic center and pay for lifeguards to watch over the practices,” Mills said.
Starting this year, the city is requiring all groups to pay for one lifeguard per 40 swimmers at practice. This is affecting the Mac Swim Club and the school’s budget.
“Once OSAA supports water polo as a high school sport, then there will be a larger push from the community and there would be a possibility to make a team at that time,” Mills said.
