And working parents that live in rural areas with terrible internet access will see their kids fall further and further behind.

Tammy, the district has internet hotspots that can be requested.

Do they seriously think any grade school kiddo is going to be able to sit at a computer from 8am until 2:30pm they really don't know kids and seriously need to rethink this plan. I have an incoming 3rd grader who is doing summer school right now. She can barely make it through the 2 1/2 hours per day now, and that is with our constant supervision. I know this is hard on everyone, but as a parent I can say for sure that my child will not be sitting at a computer all day as suggested.

Oregon Geek - Requested hot spot twice last year. They didn't have enough to go around. Wish I knew if that would even work at my place.
Switched to paper packets. Basically screen shots of what they were accessing online. No answer key for me to help/correct anything. Never got a response on when/where to turn the packets in. I understand this isn't the schools fault at all. However, was really hoping they were going to come up with something this year that gave ALL students an equal opportunity to learn. And I'm in agreement with FitChic - these are children. They shouldn't be sitting at a computer all day.
