Thank you News-Register for this series: "Reality and Response". A great deal of time and effort went into this in-depth reporting. We are fortunate, to have a local newspaper of your quality. Though the are no easy answers to fix homelessness and vagrancy, I appreciated hearing insights from some key community leaders. I heard someone once say, there is no one solution... Just lots of little ones.

Here's a thought. How about giving the "residents" of March Lane yellow vests and a trash can.

Getting folks off the street is the solution. It has to be done with shelters and mental healthcare and rehab, and then those folks could move to government housing. We would pay for all of this from taxes. We would save thousands per person by doing this, but still we choose not to. Check this link to see how Finland is battling homelessness...and winning the battle:

@ Jean you say: "but still we choose not to"

You can not force someone into rehab, mental health care, or shelter for that matter. You just blamed everyone else for not doing something, rather than the people who are the problem. Everyone is trying to do their part from new shelter beds, free meals, cleaning up after the campers, offering services...the list goes on and on.

While I have compassion for those who are struggling, I don't blame anyone for failing at solving the issues. Maybe you should do the same.
