Maybe the conversation about the new pool should have started like this:
ANYONE FROM THE CITY - "You know what, that Water and Light fee we enacted to pay for the one-time budget deficit, four years ago, should be revoked because it's just wrong to keep punishing the citizens for our carelessness. There, the fee is gone, let's talk about a new pool!"
That should have been the opening sales pitch. Your credibility is shot.
You know that old breakup line, It's not me, it's you?
It's you.

I disagree with Mr. Geary’s statement that “being online and posting opinions on Facebook doesn’t matter.” I believe that had it not been for the Facebook posts pointing out the burden of additional taxes on senior citizens on fixed incomes, the lack of maintenance of current facilities, and the probability of $98,000,000 growing to a much larger figure due to increased costs of labor and materials, this bond would have passed. The Facebook “opinions” got voters thinking and questioning.

“ Being online and putting your opinions on Facebook doesn’t matter.”
Wrong.
It does matter, and will continue to matter.
That statement shows an incredible lack of understanding.

My interpretation of the statement:
"Being online and putting your opinions on Facebook doesn't matter"...
I think Chambers was saying rather than taking the easy way of sitting at home and posting on Facebook, citizens should get involved in city government, get on committees, go to council meetings and voice your opinions, write letters to the city council etc.

What are the members holding out hope for more time to cheat? Hopefully somebody’s watching the vote count closely. Don’t forget almost 4,000,000 more to pay for the land if this would’ve passed. And then you know what comes next more money to maintain and staff the facility.I’m 100% Sure that would come up within the first year.
People in McMinnville behind this proposal should be living their dream in Lake Oswego or West Linn ! The facilities aren’t even that nice. Look at the tax revenue those cities receive. It would be on the burden of the local people that use it. Kinda like the waterpark not affordable for a normal family. Normal working families wouldn’t even be able to afford to go into this new fancy facility. Even with the annual membership or just walking in the door, it would not be affordable and only go up from there. prove me wrong. Does anything go down in price? I’d run out of words to state all the excuses they would use to ask for more money down the line.
