So extremely tragic. And the family is right - there are just not good resources to assist anyone when trying to help someone from mental illness. The State hospital is beyond capacity, the ER is not set up or staffed with the correct personal or ability to care for someone experiencing a crisis, and it is left to law enforcement to deal with situations after they have escalated to levels that are hard to recover from. My heart bleeds for every single person from the entire family, including Alex, the town, law enforcement and emergency personnel. I hope in coming years we will see the devastation in our society this causes and we are able to help people who are suffering as it is true human suffering.
