Hmmmm... McMinnville citizens voted against a $98.5 million park and rec bond. The tax burden for most people was a contributing factor. But we get no say in this $25 million Water and Light new building... just a 4-5% utility rate increase every year. Just sayin...

W&L is run as a non profit, utility charges go to pay operating expenses. Operating costs are rising for the company just like everyone else. Your rates are much lower than neighboring communities that have PGE. Mainly because there are no profits or share holders to consider.
My guess is the new building construction cost will be offset partially by the timber holdings on the watershed property, which also help keep Mac rates low. The “service charge” you see on your bill is not used by W&L…. It’s passed on to the city.
Mac W&L is a great value for Mac residents.

this is not a good time for any raise in rates or taxes.
it would be sensible to wait two or three years to see how Trumpism plays out in our pocketbooks.

Bonneville Power Administration has increased Tier 1 rates (that includes MacW&L) by 8.9% for 2026-28. Seem that 4.5% increases to Mac residents is a pretty good deal.

Tagup... thanks for your thoughtful insight. MWL truly does have lower rates than PGE, and for that I'm grateful.

I'm just not a fan of any increases right now.
