This is the second article about Oregon graduation rates in the last two weeks - all sorts of praise and excitement for the positive results in both.
It's also the second article that ignored the 1000 pound gorilla in the room, actually didn't even mention it's presence. Apparently not requiring graduates to demonstrate mastery in reading, writing, or math had nothing to do with the improvements (likely had everything to do with it).
I guess there is no need to be able to sign one's name if one cannot read it anyway. Right?
