Good to know that attempts to curb the leading cause of death for children & teens in the US is a “gigantic waste of time” for Mr Chenowith.

Not sure how limiting magazines to 10 rounds is going to prevent suicide. Usually it only takes one. But the real problem with this law is that the state has made no effort whatsoever to establish the permitting process. It's set to take effect in just over two weeks and there's no actual mechanism in place to apply for this permit. Small businesses will suffer, illegal person-to-person gun sales will increase, and law abiding gun purchasers will be out of luck because the state has had over two years to get ready for this and hasn't done a thing.

So tagup:

Do you come up with these remarks with malice aforethought?
Or by just not thinking?

Otis

Yes, but what if Trump made you turn those weapons in?

He declares martial law and the military patrols our streets from now on.

Nothing but military courts and military prisons.

No gun possessions allowed....except by those in the military.

The second amendment guarantees the right to bear arms (legally). To change or amend, the amending resolution must be passed by a two-thirds supermajority vote in both the House and the Senate - big hurdle!

When an official declares martial law, the Constitution binds the federal government's actions. Therefore, the federal government cannot infringe upon citizens' constitutional and civil rights under the color of martial law. The Constitution and federal laws also limit states that declare martial law.

And that leads to this question - who is going to turn in a gun that has no record of ownership with any authority? There are literally millions (possibly billions) of guns that fall into that category - no trace!

Not so fast!!

The Second Amendment is a natural right.
It can't be lawfully taken away.

Furthermore, it is enshrined as well in both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution itself: Article I, Section 8, Paragraphs 15 & 16. And no amendment process can change the Constitution.

What if the militias had 10 round magazines but the British had 20 rounds?

Otis

Trump abides by the Constitution? Really? That's a good one. He's been wiping his giant butt with it for 72 days.

Also, folks with guns with no trace ownership can be 'coerced' into turning them in.

Trump could just make tortuous examples of them....publicly.

Don Dix

Unregistered guns - there is no 'who owns them' - no 'where they are' - nor 'how many there are'. Under those circumstances, coercion ain't workin'.
