If we’re not careful Trump is going to make us wear masks, stay in our homes and get a jab in order to participate in society and shoot pepper rounds at us if we dare sit on our porch. Or storm into churches and protest in the middle of service! That would be really fascist, probably never happen, will it Mr merkley.

Where was Merkley when Biden was allowing millions of illegals to flood into this country? They both swore an oath to follow our constitution and our laws. Now Trump is trying to reverse this situation by removing these illegals and the Democrats are protecting them -- many of them are criminals. Should illegals have more rights than our own citizens? I think not! Using words like "Fascist" and "kidnapping" only help to incite not calm. These are tactics Democrats are using right now to cause division and rioting in our streets and complete lawlessness. Also, why is this newspaper only seemingly able to give credit to the Democrat party and hardly ever to the Republican? And, regarding ICE members wearing masks, I think I would too if these anarchists were threatening to kill me and my family were I an ICE agent. As to executive orders just how many did Biden or Obama sign that the Republicans didn't like? We quit this paper once for its one sided reporting and just started it again. I don't want to say it's journalism because it just isn't really fair reporting. More like propaganda. No wonder I get my news from many sources.

It's not surprising most of those in attendance were anti-Trump - Merkley is rated the 3rd most partisan-left senator? - behind only Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. From here, that looks like a race to crazy!

The fact that a majority of Americans voted for this guy demonstrates that you can "fool some of the people some of the time". Our only hope is that voters have learned a hard lesson and Democrats get their act together. That assumes that there actually is another election.

ICE has shown itself to be a lawless organization. Just last week an ICE whistleblower shared a memo where DHS was instructing agents that they could break down any door and search any private property in spite of the 4th amendment and multiple court orders clearly saying that ICE does not have that authority without a signed court order. They "arrest" peaceful protestors, rough them up and release them without charges or even a record of the "arrest". They barge into churches and take worshipers men, women and children to who-knows-where. They grab people as they arrive to immigration court - a place you only go when you are applying for citizenship "the right way".

This is not an agency that is concerned with the immigration or customs. It is an agency concerned with spreading terror among immigrant communities and communities that don't support Donald Trumps racist, anti-immigrant agenda. ICE agents hide their face because they are cowards and they know that what they are doing is morally bankrupt. The only people willing to be ICE agents in this era are the lowest of the low; slimy racists who want to inflict violence without repercussions.

thank you for saying that. Americans share those same concerns about the illegal, unconstitutional, reckless, and cruel behavior of masked ICE agents. They have executed 2 US citizens on the streets of Minneapolis and have unlawfully detained over 2400 people so far. ICE must be abolished.

Ron, I don't think you know me. Yes, I am interested in opposing Trump and his agenda but it's not because he has an "R" next to his name. It's because he is dismantling our constitution a little bit every day. There are literally dozens of examples of things he has said and done that are antithetical to our democratic republic. I would recommend reading about the "Emoluments Clause" and the "Foreign Emoluments Clause" of the constitution and ask yourself if Trump should be hawking crypto coins and making deals with foreign governments to build hotels. Then I would recommend reading the Sermon on the Mount and then re-reading and then re-reading it again.

Otis, haha. I'm not really commenting for Ron's benefit. It's more for the benefit of other readers who might accidentally scroll down into the comments.

It's just worth saying over and over that if someone is freaking out about undocumented immigrants (which is only a civil offense and not a "crime") but are not concerned with bank fraud, rape, child rape, conspiracy and coverup of the Epstein files, corruption and bribery (which are all federal and state crimes) then you are not acting in good faith but are just here to project their authoritarian identity politics.

Interesting that “ Ron” & “Bigfoot” use the same talking points in many posts. Seems very possible that they are the same person posting under different handles. A little sad really….

Tagup, it seems more likely that they are both stuck in a similar echo chamber. They probably don't even know that the Epstein files haven't been released. Or that Trump is trying to move income from Venezuela to private bank accounts in the Middle East outside of US treasury control. Or that Trump's children are jetting around the world doing exactly what they accused Hunter Biden of doing. Or that Trump confuses Greenland and Iceland in public speeches. Of that doctors don't ask you to take cognitive test every few months, like they have with Trump, unless they think you are suffering from cognitive decline. If their propaganda news sources allowed that kind of info out there, it would be horrible for the moral of these culture warriors.
