But what about the price? Will it be less if I pump it or more if they pump it? Oregonians have put up with higher gas prices because there was no self-service. In addition, by making the station pump the gas there were jobs created. Will this be affected? Eventually we will see stations that are entirely self-service and we Oregonians will be footing the bill for those that will be unemployed. This has all the earmarks of a lose-loae situation. Tina Kotek was elected to say yes or no in these situations, but in true Democrat form she passed the buck that we'll end up having to pony up anyway.

Fifty years too late...but better late than never.

Hibb, as the story notes, the law says prices must be the same at both self-service and attendant-served pumps. It also says stations must offer attendants for those who cannot or don't want to try self-service.

Well Starla... since thr inception of this debacle on Friday gas prices where I live went up 15 cents!

Hibb- surely you realize there are bigger factors on fuel prices than labor cost of attendants.

Reporter Starla Pointer

Well, Hibb, I can speak only to what the rules say -- prices are supposed to be the same whether it's self-service or pumped by an attendant. So presumably the hike was on both kinds of pumps.

At least one station went to self serve illegally when the bill had its first hearing. Anyone else notice the station by Wilco? Maybe it was temporary, but for a couple weeks it was self-serve with signs taped on each pump. Kind of made me giggle.
