I went to a get together of Clackamas County Historical Society last year and Sandy Carter was talking about the locks. It was interesting history even the Spruce Goose went through the locks. But then it went into a mind numbing discussion about government this that and the other and funding blah blah blah. How on earth would they even navigate the river if they are also against dredging it? Sounds more like a big government money grab than actually do something useful. Heck even the Wheatland ferry cannot cross at times because it’s too shallow. And the anti dredging zealots even throw a fit about that (and btw they don’t like building bridges either because that’s bad too.)
