Horse with no name

Thanks for your letter Judy! Mary will tell you to your face she is coming with a sword to separate the goats from the lambs. Al's the sneaky one and Stan's just along for the ride. Some group in a leadership position. No skills at bringing divergent interest together and working toward common solutions. They won their election and its winner takes all. As stated by a Mr. Yoder at the BOC formal meeting Thursday, the majority elected them and they are doing what the majority wants, typical Tea Party crazy. We need real intelligent leadership, not zealots on a mission to conquer everyone not like them. Zealots that want to conquer everyone not like them is what has had the Middle East torn up for centuries. Just what we don't need.

Horse said .... "We need real intelligent leadership, not zealots on a mission to conquer everyone not like them."

Which level of government doesn't have this attitude? And does intelligence automatically (or not) appear when a consonant is placed behind a name?

Commissioner Primozich is not the focus of this letter. Throwing him under the bus because he belongs to a 3 vote group in which two are in lockstep is completely unfair. That would be like me assuming your candidate (Sal Peralta) would have had more effect!

Sally G

Thank you, Dr. Craig, for your service, and I hope you continue to void well. Your neighbor, Sally

Mudstump

Horse - Didn't Mary Starrett win by nine votes? Please correct me if I am wrong as I am new to Yamhill county. If true she hardly has a mandate for her extreme agenda.

Spongebob

Get a clue, Mudstump. Mary won her seat in the 2014 primary by over 2,700 votes. You've been around long enough to have paid attention to that.

if children under the age of 12 are not allowed to be at home alone then why are children under the age of 10 allowed to wander and ride bikes all over town without any supervision? why? where are the parents? I see this everyday, everyday!when are parents going to be held responsible for not parenting?

Mudstump

Spongebob - Thank you for the correction. I didn't live here in May of 2014 so, I am still getting up to speed with all things Yamhill county.

In fairness, Mudstump, Mary ran on an agenda of supporting the constitution and accountability. Since her tenure, she has picked and chosen what the constitution looks like.
She's for her prayer, but no one else's. She's for the bible, but not the part where it says people shall follow the laws.
She's for her freedom of speech, but not those that disagree with her.
She's for redress, but not of the government that she has chosen to be a part of.
I have heard from so many people who supported her, but no longer do.
This was a stepping stone for her...she needed the political background to be a viable candidate for a bigger office. But, even those that suggested that to her are struggling to find a way to sell her. She took her voice and ran in the opposite direction. She thinks she is truly being independent, but all she continues to do is drive people away. Her impulsive choices have led to this. They are simply waiting for her term to be up.
She continues to grandstand in a less than appropriate way or forum.
The commissioners, as a whole, refuse to answer for their actions or provide any accountability. Just a glaring example: the public comment sheet specifically states that no person may ask questions of the commissioners or the staff during a meeting. Yet, they also refuse to do it outside of a meeting. They have no intent of doing anyone's business but their own.
She has an agenda...to go on the downslope. And she plans on taking Allen and Stan with her.
According to her published statements, she is the BOC.

Ms. Flood, have you considered running for Mary's seat at the end of her current term?

Angela.Flood

Miketubbs1 - I don't know if your question was serious or not. I have been asked that multiple times in regards to running for office. Either as a way to get me in a seat or as a way to detract.
The short answer is no. This project started as a grass roots effort to prove that people can have a voice in their government. After more than 8 years, I have made a lot of progress, and exposed a lot of unnecessary behavior.
The people in this county need to understand that if they keep voting the way they always have, they are going to continue to get what they've always gotten.
There are people who have run, imo, that could make things different. But, people choose to elect the norm, so they can complain about how bad it is. All of this being based on some presumption of a red or blue party line and what they think that represents.
Sad, really. Missed opportunities all around.

I couldn't agree more...The qualifications of some of the recent commissioner candidates, that were passed over to elect others less qualified, is hard to understand. I guess that's why reality TV sells....It's all about the drama.

I wonder if after discussing prayers, guns, and the flag, there will be any time left for county business......

miketubbs1

My question was serious, thank you for your reply, Ms. Flood.

Tagup, apparently, reality is that more here in Yamhill County lean towards Christian conservative values, as well as keeping their Constitutional rights in tact, than per say, your more liberal/progressive minded folks up in Multnomah County.

tagup

Mike, conservative Christian values are fine, but the commission is there to represent everyone. I'm not sure the county commissioners are doing anything to safeguard constitutional rights by grandstanding in the press. Yamhill county voters elect commissioners to do county business and not waste time creating good talking points for the next election.

BlueWolf57

I go back over 40 years and have gotten to know and have campaigned for a few county commissioners. What say you to holding them all to the accountability of any employee. Do the not work for us.
