Happily, it fell into the street. Yikes.

I often chose Cypress Street just to visit these wonderful trees... they will be missed!

That is so sad.

I was SO excited when I found eucalyptus shrubs at Kramers!! They are my favorite ever! I don't think mine are the same as these, but they are beautiful, and hope so much that they recover from this ice!! I honestly had no idea they would grow here!!!!!!

It's interesting how we get attached to trees. Whether planted on a whim, nutured a self starter or planted for an occasion - we connect and rely on their shelter and shade. Pruned and cared for - they are our babies. To see them die is sad. But ask yourself "Did they bring you joy?" -if so they fulfilled their duty. It wasn't all for nothing. I recently transplanted a 50 year old dogwood just to prolong its story of honoring a life. A huge task and it's going well. I was so relieved when the branches of a neighboring tree just barely missed it. it's my adopted child.
