What was the point of putting both these photo arrays together, as though what happened in each event was the same thing? I suppose that one could argue that one event was a memorial to a person largely reviled by much of America and the other was an event against someone reviled by most of America. Is that the point? The bothsidesism that underlies such practices is what got us here. These things are NOT the same.

And where is the story covering the protest; the largest mass protest in the history of McMinnville? Don't be afraid to print the truth.

Very disappointing both sides-ism here. The two events were nowhere near equivalent in either scope or purpose. But should make the conservatives in this county happy to see the News Register take the mainstream media approach to downplaying the current destruction of our country.

For those of you bemoaning the coverage of the “no kings” event in McMinnville… the NR generously granted you nearly 2 full pages of large color photos of this event. Are you ever satisfied?

Otis: you are whining just because the NR chose to “take away your thunder” of the no kings event by giving a small photo of of the “Boots Across Oregon” event. “Both sides-ism doesn’t sell subscriptions”. So are you saying the NR should only cover events you deem worthy and not mention anything contrary to your beliefs? I don’t want to subscribe to a paper that blatantly supports only one side of issues in our county. The NR should report the facts, and then let me as an informed reader make my own conclusions. That’s what responsible journalism is.

I think many people missed the main point of the “Boots Across Oregon” event. Yes, it was an opportunity to honor Charlie Kirk. But the main reason of the event was to draw attention to our local monarch in Salem, Tina Kotek, and the effort to recall her. Most recently, she ignored the wishes of 95% of Oregonians and strategically moved the timing of the votes regarding the Transportation Bill until she was confident she had enough Democrats to pass the bill. She is ramming this monstrous $4.3 billion bill down our throats. And if the referendum doesn’t get enough signatures for this to go to a vote of the people, you can thank her when you choke on the extra $42 a month it will cost each household.

These 2 events are not the same. Not one bit. Put that coverage in a different story. As for $$$ worries, why aren't you worried about the $27,000 per year the average family pays for healthcare?

Secondly, where did you ever get the idea that ANYONE implied the two events were the same?

What part of close to 50% of the country is on the opposite side of your views don’t you get? For some odd reason both sides fail to recognize this.. If your against Trump you stand with close to 50% and if your for Trump you stand with close to 50%.

Democrats lost the election because their canadate couldn’t swing the small fraction of independents. It’s that simple. In 4 years it will probably go the other way 🤷🏻

All politicians in power are in it for themselves. They all get rich and they give themselves healthcare and pay checksfor life while everyone else gets screwed.

Even on a local level some of the people out there protesting are doing it for selfish reasons. Like the rich that protest for immigrants and then pay them by the bucket or by the acre for their work and it amounts to 7 or 8 bucks an hour for the fastest ones.

Even the guy they deported in Newberg made his living on the backs of the workers he was paying well below minimum wage. Don’t get me wrong. Protesting is good when it’s needed but don’t be a fool and think that all are doing it for good reasons because they are not.

I’m not religious and I’m not aligned with Kirk’s crappy opinions but celebrating his murder is wrong and I believe it will lead to someone calibrating others at some point. All it’s going to take is someone going nutty from the other side and shooting up one of these protests where thousands of people are. If you value your own lives and also value your right to have an opinion you might really want to think before you celebrate anyone’s assasination.

Otis I remember several months ago when you were bashing me with the help of Treefarmer Mr. Snarky himself and all his Sesquipedalian comments to cover his insults. Otis you mentioned you were or had been going to therapy for years. I hope you haven’t canceled any of your appointments. You’re delusional over this. You’re worried about the cost of healthcare understandably since we’re paying for illegal aliens healthcare, which is against the law by the way you should study up on that. Just another Democrat argument and potential vote for the party.
You forget to mention Queen Tina you’re all worried about the King!What about the Queen that’s affecting you and all of us in a huge way with the biggest tax increase in Oregon history and I should remind you it’s nothing to do with the orange man! HELLO. The queen won’t sign the bill because there’s a risk that it will go to a vote of the people which overwhelmingly opposed in the first session but I know you don’t believe in vote of the people. I know that 100% You stand for the Queen and push hate for the King.Don’t forget the water and light fees they keep tacking on. Seems like you’ve lost your way. Tariffs hasn’t hit you very much. Hmm…Ron are you really trying to explain the healthcare premium increases across the country on illegal immigrants? I guess it’s not unexpected from someone that has a bigoted view of the world, but feel free to show your source that supports that claim.
Maybe it’s you that needs to study up on the health care subsidies that were eliminated to pay for the trump tax cut for big business & wealthy tax payers. My premiums will be increasing by 51% and it has nothing to do with illegal immigration.
