Fatal crash near Lafayette

At about 4:45 a.m., on Thursday, Dec. 17, a single vehicle crashed into a tree north of Lafayette on Highway 99W near mile post 30. Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.  

Oregon State Police indicates in the preliminary investigation that the silver Toyota Camry, operated by Jackie Sue Williams, 33, of Dundee, was traveling northbound on Hwy. 99W, passing multiple vehicles.  

Williams lost control and the vehicle left the roadway jerking to the right, OSP officials announced in a press release. The Camry struck several trees before it came to an uncontrolled rest. 

The vehicle’s passenger, Skyler Wayne Goodwin, 29, of Waldport, was also pronounced dead at the scene. 

The highway was impacted for approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes during the on-scene investigation. 

OSP was assisted by the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, Newberg-Dundee Police Department, Amity Fire Department, Lafayette Fire Department, McMinnville Fire Department, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

On Thursday morning, a single vehicle crashed into a tree north of Lafayette on Highway 99W.

Captain Kyle Kennedy with the Oregon State Police confirmed both occupants suffered fatal injuries. Their identities have not yet been released, as OSP is contacting the next of kin.

No additional information had been released at press time. OSP is expected to release additional information in the coming days.
