Lots of red flags with this guy.......

Bill B

What a joke!

Bill B

The more I think about this, the more ticked off I get. When did it become permissible to not appear in court? At the least, isn't this contempt of court?

rosebloomer

So he has to show up in 6 months or they will put another warrant out and hope to find him eventually? Sound out of it on the phone? Tell him to show up in person and make sure he's not still using drugs which apparently makes him think he can abuse animals.

Lulu

Quid pro quo: The identical treatment he joyfully administered should be visited upon him. Afterward, throw him on the landfill with the rest of the stinking trash.
And his sentence, again, represents yet another routine miscarriage of justice in Yamhill County.
This cowardly punk will reappear in the news early and often.

tagup

I understand your outrage Lulu...but how does subjecting this guy to the identical treatment make us any different than him?

macgreg

Lulu,Iam with you,what a POS

Bill B

Tagup - enough with the twisted logic.

tagup

Punishment ( and abuse) based on revenge will not bring justice.....

Lulu

No, but it sure would make me feel great.
This guy needs to exit the world population--would you miss a Ted Bundy, a Charles Manson, a Richard Davis, a Charles Ng, a Joseph DeAngelo? Guess what? They all began their stellar careers following the exact blueprint used by this piece of crap Lizak. Absolutely unredeemable.

tagup

You would feel “great” if this guy gets choked and punched for 15 minutes?....hmmm...

If you advocate the death sentence for animal abuse, I guess the hunters & meat processing companies of the world should beware..??

Lulu

You simply don't get it.

Bill B

Lulu, just write it off to twisted logic

tagup

I guess not...can you explain it?....How does beating up this guy (or the death sentence for animal abuse) change anything?....you seem like an educated person and It’s hard for me to understand that you would feel “ great” about something like that....
I’m not saying no punishment. This guy needs jail, therapy and to be watched closely for a while....but your proposed sentence doesn’t exactly fit the crime.

Bill- the logic is punishment without revenge ....you prefer mob rule?

Hibb

This is the kind of scenario that ultimately proves that "... but for the grace of God, there go you and I." I am sure that some will take issue with that, thinking that they would never stoop to just such a level and abuse an animal, but from what I read one or more of you wants to abuse a human being and as despicable as he may be (or at least the actions he is accused of doing and readily admits to), if civilization is to continue to stand we cannot afford such a luxury.

I think "tagup" made some bonafide points and "Lulu" displayed an anger not conducive to rehabilitating Lyzak, which should be our goal as a society of laws. This whole thing about his being absent from his court date is upsetting, but does not rise to the level to warrant the death penalty. Why is it that often it is the people most adamant about the sanctity of life in all of its forms are also the first to step up and demand the most outrageous punishment, even at times death.?!

Lastly, I do not appreciate the way BILL B tried to control the narrative while at the same time dismissing out of pocket "tagup's" position as "twisted logic." Who died and made you the moderator of people's comments, Bill B? You called out "tagup" for proving their point, but you let the intolerant Lulu have a pass. How mixed up is that and since when did we prioritize reprisal and retribution over that of community justice and rehabilitation? Many of the comments attached to this article are an embarrassment and I was not going to add my 2-cents until I realized how egregious some of these comments were. We can do better....

macgreg

If this POS did this to my dog I would blow a whole right through him,PERIOD.This is a Federal crime, look on the books,he is a sick creep using drugs as a excuse ,enough, plain an simple

Lulu

Horseshit, Hibb.

tagup

And macgreg you would be convicted of murder in the first degree ( 20 to life I think)
If you got a very good attorney, you might get to plea to manslaughter if you could prove punching your dog was reasonable provocation for killing someone.....

Bill B

Hibb - You will want to be careful that you don't fall off that high horse.

Finch

Until animal abuse is taken seriously and punishments are harsh nothing will change. I agree with Lulu and Bill B. It seems to start with animals and moves on to people. Again, these people choose to go down the nasty road and they need to pay the consequences. Enough with the excuses. I feel no sympathy for them.

Hibb

macgreg: Another wannabe "murderer" in our midst. Maybe we should find you a cell too... oh wait, Oregon does not incarcerate for stupidity - no matter how egregious that stupidity may end up being. Grow up macgreg, as your adolescent chiming in is stinking up this aisle of the newspaper!

Lulu: What is "horseshit" is your unbridled anger issues and your propensity to over-react and to over-reach in your impassioned justice system, which will never be just as long as it is ruled by your unbridled passions.

Bill B: Or what? I will end up in the s*** like you?! C'mon Bill, you can do better or has your inflated condescending attitude caused you to fly so high above the rest of us that you've lost touch with the fact that for a civilization to be civilized, it must guided by principles above itself and not just be some bag of hot air floating aimlessly through space and time, disconnected from reality and accountability...

Finch: You might want to get your vision checked, as I am pretty sure that based upon what you have said that you are suffering from a severe case of shortsightedness and/or a long term case of stupidity.

Finch

Hibb - Well, aren't you high and mighty correcting everyone. It seems you don't have much else to do than comment on damn near every article and make your opinions known. Ridiculous and one reason I'm done with my 25 year subscription. Tired of wasting my time getting upset about the direction this country is going and reading comments and articles so left leaning. BTW I don't need you telling me what to do and neither do the others. Maybe you're the one that's shortsighted. What an idiot.

treefarmer

Finch – “Until animal abuse is taken seriously and punishments are harsh nothing will change.“ Better sit down – you and I are in full agreement on that statement. Ever since I adopted a precious rescue pup into my family I have had even more intense contempt for those who abuse animals, and a renewed sense of gratitude for the heroes who rescue and protect these vulnerable creatures. I will not comment on any other opinions stated here, but I will hope and assume that anyone who mistreats, injures, or abandons an animal will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. There must be consequences with teeth, not as revenge but as deterrence. (And I sure hope he is ordered to have NO CONTACT with animals, now or ever again.)

Re your statement of concern about the direction our country is headed, I too have felt deeply distressed. Of course you and I have a totally different concept as to what the right direction is - so we can’t characterize that as agreement. It has always been interesting to me that when YOU post, it is your opinion, but when someone ELSE posts an opinion, or challenges the factual basis for your opinions, that translates to “telling you what to do.” Speaking only for myself, I have zero interest in telling you what to do, in spite of your perceptions. (I do not like to waste time either.) And FYI, calling someone an idiot is not a persuasive way to get your point across.

I am always sorry about any loss of support for this great community newspaper, but in light of your feelings of oppression and outrage, letting your subscription lapse is probably for the best. Good bye and good luck.

Finch

Goodbye treefarmer. Appreciate your thoughts and comments but found it odd that you targeted only me and my comments especially pertaining to my use of the word idiot.

Finch

With no mention of the use of the word stupidity directed at me and the other nasty and rude comments directed at the others. Yes, I'm quite happy with my decision. And very excited about the upcoming election. Hope you'll be okay with the outcome.

If one thinks the offenses described in this article warrant a death penalty, it might be interesting to know what other offenses he/she believes -- or doesn't believe -- should be similarly sentenced. But that's just a rhetorical question ... my actual comment is that it's been a long week, a long summer, and it seems a good time for people to review the "N-R policy on Reader comments" linked above.

Bill B

Thanks Dad! :-)

Finch

Bill -- :) my thoughts exactly. Take care.

Jeb Bladine

I'll try to be more user-friendly next time!

treefarmer

Seriously?? I thought a gentle reminder of the rules, and being alluded to as “dad” was about as user-friendly as it gets.

tricia

If Hibb or Tagup have any pets please let me know as I could take them. Your intolerance for animal abuse is disturbing.

Hibb

I have a rescue dog that was trained to be my service dog and we do not need any rehousing thank you. I love animals, grew up with pets and have a real passion about them.

Never have I advocated in the defense of animal abuse. The thought nauseates me and to be misrepresented and maligned by a few people who obviously chose to ignore my comments and castigate me as something I am not is ridiculous and insulting.

Animal abuse must be prosecuted in all cases and no one should be given a pass, but the thought of demanding the death penalty is an extreme that we as a supposedly civilized people cannot require, as it violates the very principle of "justice for all".

tagup

Trica- I don’t believe beatings or capital punishment are appropriate for animal abusers....how did you draw the conclusion that I am intolerant of animal abuse in general?.....There are plenty of things to be disturbed about these days, without making things up.....
