I am fearful of a dictatorship too. I'm too painful and old to march or rally with everybody but my heart is with you!
treefarmer
Judy ~ I share your concern. Everyone has a part to play, coming here and posting support is your contribution and your voice has value. You will be with everyone in spirit at the rallies. Thanks!

Love this. My friends and I will be there next week. Thank you for starting this!

The next "Wednesday Protest" will be on McDaniels Street - on the side of the strip mall. 4:30-5:30.

Yea!
Here's an idea: what would happen if there was no withholding from our paychecks? Would the country's budget take a dive? Would that catapult Reps into voting against Mump's policies?
My partner and I think that if everyone were to stop withholding from paychecks and put the money in an account and pay quarterly, then it would be a message, one that hits the hearts of both Mump--money troubles.
treefarmer
I too have wondered what would happen if taxpayers decided sending our money to fund a cruel autocratic government that no longer represents or protects the citizens is the best approach? (After all, we did go to war war to prevent taxation without representation.)
B
tree farmer; What an un-American thing to say. You do realize you are represented, don't you?
treefarmer
Actually, “B,” I am NOT being represented. And the one-man-rule that is our reality now definitely does not look “American” to me. The Constitution provides for three separate and equal branches of government. It created checks and balances to prevent one-man-rule. It granted assurances that laws will be faithfully executed. Those ideals were abandoned with the last election. I am aware that some folks are happy with this new regime. However, many of us find it antithetical to the democratic republic we have always supported with our hearts and checkbooks. But please - feel free to continue judging me for what I wonder about, or what I say. (It is being eroded by the day, but at this moment we still have the right to free speech.)

This is how we do it! No kings....No Oligarchs

Have a neighbor who was out on the line. Said they got many horn honks of support from vans and sedans. They also got some middle fingers from high water pick up trucks. Free speech in all it forms. There are over 80 million Americans who could vote but did not vote. Where are they? I hope they are as worried as we are.
treefarmer
The middle finger is just someone's way of advertising their IQ. More to be pitied than condemned?

One thing I’ve noticed here is treefarmer as always the first one in to keep the political divide going. You sir or ma’am since nobody knows your name have plenty of company in Yamhill County. You constantly belittle people with your left-wing comments you’re a typical Democrat that would never cross the aisle for any reason no matter who was in office . Now you’re even bringing up people’s IQ. You must be a very special person! and better than everybody else. Your fancy words, comments and statements are the same as pointing the middle finger at others. YOUR HATRED IS SAD , and sick and outweighs your heart by far ! Be proud you are part of the problem. Go ahead and start in on me. My real name is Ron and I won’t lose any sleep over what you say about me.You folks above as well as the protesters better get your Teslas up for sale. They’re losing value. :-)
treefarmer
That’s quite the comment, “Ron.” But I believe there is always something to learn from constructive (?) criticism. I think you have judged me pretty harshly but we all see things through our own lens and there is no right or wrong in that. Allow me to clarify the IQ comment – my bad! When someone expresses themselves with the vulgar one finger salute, it is about intent more so than intellect. The purpose is ALWAYS to offend. Clear, concise, and in my opinion, cowardly. Hit and run. Thanks for the opportunity to set the record straight.
I do have family and friends on both sides of the political divide and I love them all. We can have some heated discussions and often must agree to disagree. So when you read my words and see hatred – and the INTENT to divide, I do feel misjudged. I am a decidedly ordinary person but your perceptions are informative and I will give them some thought.
Mine is a family of patriots, honorable military service going back generations. When I see what is happening to America I am genuinely horrified. Every single person who fought and/or died to protect and defend our democratic republic is being dishonored as the Constitution is shredded and transformed into autocratic rule. Our Veterans are being betrayed and denied the support they earned and were promised. Yesterday Musk announced his intent to ELEMINATE Social Security. Where will that leave seniors who paid into the program for a lifetime and trusted their government to protect their savings? Do you consider these “left wing” concerns?
Bottom line – it is your right to support the status quo and it is my right (for now at least) to criticize it. (And mercifully, we always have the option to scroll right past comments that set our hair on fire.)
