Commissioners approve public health readiness funds
The initiative, a program of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, provides federal funds to help larger cities develop plans to respond to bioterrorism, by dispensing antibiotics to the population within 48 hours.
Started in 2004, with funding provided to just 21 cities nationwide, it has grown steadily to include at least one city in each state. Yamhill County is working through an agreement with Washington County, to ensure that both areas are prepared.
Commissioners also approved an agreement with Ticor Title Company of Oregon, to provide title searches for properties under threat of foreclosure, for non-payment of property taxes, for at least three years. County Counsel Christian Boenisch told commissioners that the county clerk routinely enters such agreements, making sure that they are distributed among area title companies.
A land hearing appealing a zone change in Newberg was canceled after the appeal was withdrawn.
The commissioners next meeting will take place Monday, August 18, at 2 p.m. in the County Commissioners office. It will be an informal work session.
