Local athletes compete at State Games
EUGENE – Selected track and field athletes from across Yamhill County competed in the Hershey’s Track and Field Games Oregon State Finals, held June 28 at Hayward Field in Eugene.
In the 13-14 age group, the girls 4x100-meter relay team of Brooke France (Willamina), Sierra Bowlin (Dayton), Hannah Hughes (Willamina) and Taryn Hunt (Grande Ronde) won its event in 55.52 seconds. In addition to the team triumph, Hughes finished third in the girls 13-14 standing long jump with a mark of 7 feet, 4.25 inches. Bowlin took fifth place in the girls 13-14 100-meter dash, clocking 14.03 seconds.
In the girls 13-14 200 meters, Hunt clocked 28 seconds flat, good enough for fourth place.

Athletes that successfully qualified out of the Oregon State Games will be eligible to compete in the Hershey’s Track and Field Games North American Final, held in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on August 2.
