Yamhill facing big PERS hit

City Recorder Lori Gilmore discussed the looming PERS hike with the city council Tuesday night. It may mean the city will recommend eliminating cost-of-living raises next year, she said.

Raises and other spending issues will be decided by Yamhill’s budget committee, slated to begin meeting April 1.

In other business Tuesday, the council raised Beulah Park user fees for the first time since 1998. Reserving the park for a reunion or other gathering will cost $35, up $10. Renting the bingo hall will run $40, also up $10.

The council also heard a funding request from YCRC, the local recreational program. It submitted a request for $4,500, which will be submitted to the budget committee.
