Willamina gearing up for search
Gus Forster has agreed to continue through the 2014-15 school year, then retire. He is working on a part-time basis at a salary of about $60,000 a year.
The board is expected to create a search committee at the June session. Elementary School Principal Carrie Zimbrick said the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators has a recent salary survey the committee can consider.
In other action, the board reappointed Ernie Hollmann and Myra Johnson to three-year terms on the budget committee and adopted a 2014-15 school calendar. It runs from Aug. 26, 2014, to May 29, 2015.
According to projections, the district anticipates needing only two staff furlough days next year. They would be taken in November.
One priority for the administrative team, which consists of Forster, Zimbrick and High School/Middle School Principal Tim France, is to add back an elementary physical education specialist.
The board will meet next at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15.
