Golf tournament is Saturday at CrossCreek

Cross Creek Golf Course is accepting signups for its Brockway Open Golf Tournament on Feb. 9.

The tournament will start at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start in a two-person scramble format. There will be net and gross prizes awarded. Players do not need a handicap in order to compete, and the field is open to men and women or mixed teams.

The entry fee is $40 per player and includes green fees, hole prizes and tee prizes. To sign up or to receive further information, call the Cross Creek pro shop at 503-623-6666.

OHA monthly meeting is Feb. 14

The Yamhill County chapter of the Oregon Hunters Association will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 14 at the American Legion in McMinnville. There is a dinner at 6 p.m.

At the meeting, speakers Charlie Middleton and Pat Moran will speak about their book, “Oregon Percentage Tags.”

Also, at each general chapter meeting, a drawing for a $50 gift card to Bi-Mart will be held. Only members in attendance are eligble.

Mac baseball camps set for Feb. 24-25

The McMinnville baseball program is holding two baseball camps Feb. 23-24 for middle and elementary school kids. McMinnville baseball coach Darren Bland will lead the camps, along with his coaching staff and Grizzlies players.

There are two sessions each day. On Feb. 23, the kindergarten through fourth-grade sessions is from 9 a.m. to noon in the McMinnville High School gym. Please, no cleats. Fifth graders through eighth graders will go from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 23.

If the weather permits, the Feb. 24 session will be outside at the varsity baseball field behind Patton Middle School. The K-fourth grade session will go from noon to 3 p.m. The fifth-eighth grade session will go from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The purpose of the camp is to teach younger kids the fundamentals of baseball while aiding the older players with their transition to high school baseball. The cost is $50 and includes a camp t-shirt. There will be no refunds after Feb. 19.
