New superintendent offers transition plan

Sugg, who succeeds the retiring A.J. Grauer, has only officially been on the job for three weeks. However, he began meeting district staff members, attending meetings and conducting a staff survey when his hiring was announced last February.

“It’s been great,” he said. “I’ve learned a lot, everyone has been very welcoming and I’m excited to be here.”

In other business:

* Michael Griffith was sworn into Position 1, Larry Deibel into Position 2 and Terry Chrisman into Position 5. Griffith and Chrisman were elected in the May primary and Deibel was re-elected. They join holdovers Judy Breeden and Harvey Hall.

* Deibel was elected chair and Breeden vice-chair.

* An invitation was extended for applications for an opening on the budget committee. Interested parties are asked to call the district office at 503-843-2347.

The board will next meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21.
