MDA gearing up for annual meeting
The McMinnville Downtown Association will hold its annual meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in the McMinnville Grand Ballroom, 325 N.E. Third St.
The event will include election of 2013 board members, annual awards presentations, a silent auction and a Piccadilly auction.
For the Piccadilly auction, each guest will be issued a numbered auction paddle. During the evening, various items will be presented with designated bid amounts, ranging from a quarter to two dollars.
Those who wish to bid need only drop the amount into a bowl on the table and hold up their paddle. The auctioneer will draw a number, Bingo-style, and the holder will win the item.
Rolls of quarters will be available for purchase to facilitate bidding.
The meal will be catered by Harvest Fresh at $35 per person. Reservations, required by Friday, Feb. 15, may be made by contacting Manager Cassie Sollars at email@example.com or 503-472-3605.
MORROW TO SPEAK
Jennifer Larsen Morrow, president of McMinnville’s Creative Company, will give a 90-minute presentation, “Close New Business: Set the Stage with Effective Brand Positioning,” on Friday, Feb. 22, at The Wave, a regional conference for the Society for Marketing Professionals in Portland.
Morrow will discuss how to build and maintain a strong brand and cover key points, including how to speak from the audience’s point of view; the importance of a focused message; and why communication must be clear and consistent across all channels.
“To be effective in a sales conversation, it must be clear what the company stands for and what it provides,” Morrow said. “That’s good positioning.”
Morrow will also speak March 15 at a Strategic Economic Development Corporation luncheon in Salem. SEDCOR serves Yamhill, Polk and Marion counties.
