Thanks News Register for the story on these amazing local athletes. And a big CONGRATULATIONS to Jeremy Hurl for his 6th place finish at the Mt. Hood 50. Impressive just to finish, but to place that high in one of the toughest ultra-racing regions is spectacular!

Nice article - well written. It would have been great if the News Register could have done a story on the Fueled-by-Fine-Wine Half Marathon. Congrats to Canaday for kicking everybody's butt in that race and I wish him the best of luck at the world mountain running championship.

Great article ~ Nice to see "Ultrarunning" in the spotlight for a change.
Although, I love to run Ultra's for other reasons than running for beer!

I love ultrarunning because of being in the woods, community and the challenge of what mountain ultra races bring. Running has saved my life from chronic illness & addiction to prescriptions. Just 4 short years ago I started running and my life has been filled with adventure. The woods are filled with so much beauty ~ you don't find this kind of beauty running on the road passing traffic. Get up and get moving!

Great article about local runners pushing it to the limit with a healthy addiction for a change. Glad to see ultra running is finally catching on. Ran my first trail 50 miler in 1985 and I can attest that it is everything reported here and more. Its a sport that changes your life. Go MacTown Striders.
