Gun control debate scheduled
The panel features James Huffman, dean emeritus of Lewis & Clark Law School; Penny Okamoto, executive director of Ceasefire Oregon; and Chris Bouneff, executive director of The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Oregon. They will offer their opinions on the source of gun violence and consider possible remedies.
Huffman is the author of more than 100 articles and book chapters on constitutional law, natural resources law and jurisprudence. In 2010, he was Oregon’s Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate.
Ceasefire Oregon has adopted a mission of preventing gun violence by advocating effective gun laws. The organization works to inform citizens and legislators about gun violence.
NAMI of Oregon uses education, support and advocacy to improve the quality of life of individuals living with mental illness. It is part of a national organization.
