George passes gavel
Commissioner Kathy George chaired her final meeting, then turned the gavel over to Mary Stern. Both George and Stern are completing the third and final terms they are allowed under county ordinance, so the reins will pass next year to the lone holdover — Allen Springer, who joined the board two years ago.
Under the new alignment, Springer becomes vice chair. In addition, he becomes liaison for tribal government and economic development, assuming responsibilities previously held by Stern.
Liaison responsibilities otherwise remain unchanged. For a breakdown, visit www.co.yamhill.or.us/sites/default/files/responsibilities.pdf.
