Dayton picks top candidate
They haven’t publicly announced who the top choice is, however. Interim City Manager Peggy Selberg said the name will be announced at the conclusion of the negotiations, when the council meets to seal the arrangement.
Negotiations may wind up by Tuesday, Jan. 22, when the council has a regularly scheduled work session. Or it may call a special meeting to finish the hiring process.
The four finalists are:
n Randy Bombarier of Vancouver, Wash. He was city manager in Ridgefield, Wash., from 2001-04 and since has been in working in the private sector. He holds a master’s degree in city management from East Tennessee University.
n Rodney Otterness of International Falls, Minn., who has been city manager there since 2004. He has a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul.
n Scott Pingel of Hermiston, city manager of Stanfield since 2010. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from West Virginia University.
n Paul Poczobut of Orland, Calif., where he was city manager from 2008 to 2011. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from Troy State University Pacific Division.
The new manager will replace Christy Ellis, who has left Dayton.
