Commissioners approve trail appraisal

The Yamhill County commissioners approved Thursday spending $16,000 to have the remaining seven-mile portion of Yamhelas Westsider Trail rial right-of-way appraised.

The state has awarded grant funds for purchase of an initial 10-mile section. A formal appraisal is necessary to support application for grant money for the remaining section, according to County Administrator Laura Tschabold.

In other business, commissioners:

* Agreed to support a grant application to the Siuslaw National Forest for the paving of a 1.7 mile section of Meadow Lake Road.

* Authorized a $36,000 agreement between Community Corrections and Integrity Builders Inc. for repairs to Oxford House, which houses a residential drug and alcohol treatment program. The facility was severely damaged in a summer fire that displaced 17 adults and 3 children.

* Met in executive session to discuss potential real estate transactions. Afterward, they agreed to offer $520,000 for a pair of local houses.
