Chemeketa to hold line on tuition
This is the third consecutive year that the school has voted to forgo a tuition increase. “Keeping tuition stable continues our intent to provide an affordable education so cost doesn’t limit student success,” said President Cheryl Roberts.
Tuition for Oregon residents is $80 per credit. A $14 fee pushes the total to $94.
Out-of-state tuition is $242 per credit. The fee makes it $254.
Ed Dodson, chairman of the college’s governing board, said sound fiscal management and policies have allowed Chemeketa to stabilize its tuition costs.
The planned fee structure is based on the state Legislature’s appropriation of an additional $15 million for community colleges during the 2013 special session, in addition to the $450 million allocated during the 2013 regular session. If the extra $15 million is not appropriated, or the Legislature chooses to decrease its allocation during their current session, the issue will be revisited, Dodson said.
