Amity hosts pancake breakfast

Pancakes, ham, eggs, juice and coffee are on the menu. Adults eat for $6, kids aged 6-12 eat for $3 and children under six for free.

The turnout is often dependent on the weather. Last year close to 1,500 people showed up for the breakfast.

Proceeds from the event go to the Amity Library, Red Ribbon Drug Awareness Program for Amity Middle School, Amity FFA and Amity High School Dance Team and the Amity volunteer Fire Department.

“All the money goes back to the community,” said Valley Women’s club representative Edna Troyer. “It goes for scholarships and to the fire department to buy equipment.”

An antique car show will also be held at the event. Registration takes place the day of, and anyone is free to show up with their car.

“It starts at 6 a.m. and is over with at 11:30,” Troyer said. “There’s no judging, it’s just a fun thing in the park.”

Troyer said close to 210 cars were on display at last year’s breakfast, and a slower year usually brings in around 160 cars.
