Relief nursery fundraisers planned

One fundraiser is called “Summer Give.” It is encouraging local residents to have a small party in a venue that others would enjoy, such as a happy hour, family barbecue, weekend getaway or dinner out, invite friends and family, choose a donation item and have a monetary fundraising goal. Donations requested include diapers, construction paper, glue sticks, Tempera and finger paint, wet wipes, latex gloves, hand sanitizer, stickers, Kleenex and quart and gallon-sized Ziploc bags.

A Family Place offers cards to collect information from participants so nursery officials can stay connected with donors. It also has a banner and promotional materials available through its office and can be requested by calling 503-472-4020, ext. 214, or visiting 335 N.E. Sixth St., McMinnville.

A party is also planned for Hopscotch Toys & Games, 103 S.E. Baker St., McMinnville, from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. In addition, there’s a bin currently available and special items selected that individuals could purchase to donate to the relief nursery.

Diane Haugeberg is leading an online baby shower to benefit the nursery. It can be accessed by visiting the website, clicking on the wish list at the bottom and entering Copeland’s e-mail address:, which will lead to the items sought.
