911 service restored

911 Service has been fully restored within the communities of Carlton, Grand Ronde, Sheridan, Willamina and portions of Yamhill.

Century Link located and replaced a hardware failure that caused the partial outage to occur.

Century Link customers now have full access to 911 services again in Yamhill County.

Sheriff Tim Svenson reminded people what to do when they attempt to contact 911 and are unable to get through:

- If you call 911 from your landline and receive a "'fast busy"' tone, first try calling 911 using your cell phone.

- If you are still unable to reach 911 for the areas served by the Yamhill Communications Agency, hang up and dial the non-emergency number, 503.434.6500.

- For areas served by the Newberg-Dundee 911 center, hang up and dial the non-emergency number, 503.538.3131
