Rain fills rivers, causes some localized flooding

Rain, rain and more rain is predicted over the weekend, and the excess water is already filling rivers and causing some localized flooding.

Carlton's lower Wennerberg Park was already partly covered Friday as the North Yamhill spilled over its banks. Water also is rising in the usual low spots, such as lower McMinnville City Park.

The National Weather Service is predicting periods of heavy rain and gusty winds for Northwest Oregon at least through Monday. It said that breaks in the rain should keep most rivers below flood stage, however.

Rainfall totals from the storm could top 5 inches in parts of the Coast Range, the weather service said, with up to 3 inches in the Willamette Valley.

Drivers should look out for standing water on roadways and watch out for debris, as well.
