Jim Walker writes the "Sports Fan" column for the News-Register. He also writes occasional feature sports articles.
When not writing about sports, the former high school teacher and coach is embarking on a restart of his sports car racing career, primarily running events at nearby Portland International Raceway. He also serves as assistant governor for the Southwest Region of Rotary District 5100 and continues to serve on the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association Foundation Board.
He jogs, lift weights and tries to see his four sons and seven grandchildren as much as possible.
