Koncert for Kids Oct 10

Featuring both professional and amateur talent, the annual Koncert for Kids will be held at  Wednesday, Oct. 10. Music will start at 7 p.m. in the McMinnville High School auditorium.

The event showcases students and raises funds for the Kids in Koncert Music Enrichment Program offered through the McMinnville Parks and Recreation Department.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for youths, available from the McMinnville Community Center or from Kids in Koncert founder Kathleen Bernards, at 503-472-2179 or klbcpa@knkcpaoffices.com.

The 2012 Koncert for Kids will feature the debut of a new, upbeat composition, “Music in My Soul,” by professional musician Mike Strickland. The McMinnville artists plays piano and sings in addition to composing. He has recorded numerous albums and been heard on movie soundtracks, as well.

Other professional performers Oct. 10 will include pianist Michael Allen Harrison and Julianne Johnson. Vintage Voices, the local adult jazz choir, and student musicians will round out the evening.

In addition to the evening concert, all third-graders in the McMinnville School District will be treated to a special concert. They will be transported to the high school to hear the performance during the school day.

The Yamhill Enrichment Society, music teachers Dana Libonati and Robin Pedersen, Bernards and other donors are making the third-grade concert possible for the second year in a row.
