Two hurt in DUII crash

YAMHILL — Two Carlton residents were injured in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning at a point northwest of Yamhill in the 24000 block of Northwest Turner Creek Road, and one of them was cited afterward for driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Anissa Lynn Carney, 32, of 560 N. Declaration Drive, was driving a 1997 Dodge pickup. She was accompanied by Carl Jay Burge, 32, of 321 E. Main St.

They were transported by McMinnville Fire Department ambulance to the Willamette Valley Medical Center for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening. Carney was cited.

Capt. Tim Svenson of the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office said the pickup failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway.

He said a passerby helped keep the victims warm until law enforcement and medical personnel arrived.

The passerby detected alcohol on Carney’s breath, and alerted officers, he said. He said Carney was belted in, but Burge was not.
