Stolen vehicle elicits large police response

Taken into custody were Kenneth Earl Hall, 48, of Salem, and Tracy Elaine Zemanek, 48, of Amity. At arraignment in circuit court, bail was set at $15,000 for Hall and $22,500 for Zemanek.

The two were lodged in the county jail on one count each of possession of a stolen vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Zemanek was also charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance/methamphetamine.

“An officer ran the plate, for what reason I don’t know,” said Capt. Dennis Marks. “It came back as a stolen car. He lost sight of the vehicle, but another officer watched for it and located it.”

More than half a dozen police officers were joined by a sheriff’s deputy in swarming the Ticor Title parking lot at 105 N.E. Fourth St., after the vehicle was stopped and the suspects were ordered out at gunpoint. They were able to take the two suspects into custody without incident.
