Speaker to discuss John Locke

Part of the Frederick Douglass Forum on Law, Rights and Justice, the program will be held in the Pioneer Reading Room. Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m., with King's free presentation following at noon.

King calls Locke "one of the great political thinkers of the Western tradition." Shewill discuss his ideas on rights, property and the proper role of the state, which she said still permeate our political discussion.

King received her Ph.D. in political science from Rutgers University in 2009. Her research focuses on 17th century political thought, with an emphasis on the natural law tradition and the evolution of liberalism.
