Sheridan boys go 1-2, WIllamina girls beat Scio

Sheridan at Salem Academy Tournament

SALEM – The Sheridan boys basketball team went 1-2 at the Salem Academy Tournament, defeating Class 1A Portland Christian, 55-54, on Thursday. The Spartans (3-5) lost to Horizon Christian of Tualatin, 67-43, on Friday and lost to host Salem Academy, 55-51, on Saturday.

The Sheridan girls basketball team went 0-3 at the Salem Academy Tournament, falling to Class 1A Portland Christian (50-24), North Bend (44-16) and Rainier (55-12)

Sheridan begins league play tonight in Tualatin against Horizon Christian. The girls game begins at 6:45 p.m., with the boys game to follow at 8:15 p.m.


Girls basketball

Willamina 58, Scio 34

SCIO – Sydney France scored 16 points, and Whitney Anderson chipped in 15 as the Class 6A Bulldogs ran up a 31-12 halftime lead on the Class 2A Loggers and never looked back in Saturday’s nonleague game. Willamina (7-2) hosts Horizon Christian of Tualatin tonight at 6 p.m.
