Road ragers get into fight
Trooper Phil Richardson of the Oregon State Police identified them as Michael W. Branco, 69, of 538 N.W. Yamhill St., Sheridan, and Taylor Austin DeGraaf, 19, of 22780 Yamhill River Road, Willamina. He gave this account:
A Dodge Caravan driven by Branco and a Ford Mustang operated by DeGraaf exited the highway and pulled to the shoulder of Yamhill River Road. DeGraaf parked in front of Branco and both drivers got out of their vehicles.
Branco brandished a shovel handle and threatened to hit DeGraaf, who was calling 911 at the time. They were separated by other motorists.
As Branco was driving away, DeGraaf kicked the door of his vehicle. Branco pulled over again, got out and struck DeGraaf with his cane, knocking him to the ground. DeGraaf got to his feet and punched Branco, knocking him to the ground. Motorists separated them again and called 911.
Both drivers refused medical treatment. Richardson forwarded his report to the Polk County District Attorney’s office for review of possible charges.
